What it is about
The topic of generations is becoming increasingly important in the workplace, and in some companies and institutions five generations already work side by side (veterans are no longer active in the labour market, and we do not yet know which generational traits will characterise those born after Generation Alpha). The traits typical of a generation will never be true of every member of that generation; they are tendencies. They are not suitable for judging or characterising colleagues, nor are they meant for that. They can, however, offer an extra perspective for understanding the other person in a conflict or disagreement, and for improving cooperation. With the test below we invite you to a little game that shows which generation you are closest to based on your thinking, choices and preferences. We would caution you, however, against treating it as a diagnosis or a validated test result – it is a game, but one that can get you thinking.

Generation is usually defined by year of birth, but since this is only one aspect of describing a person, there may be differences.
tends to categorise
Why measure it? Today almost five generations are present in the labour market at the same time, and harmonious coexistence is not the first thing that comes to mind. If we understand this, we understand each other sooner. The generational question is no magic cure, but it can offer an answer to a conflict where nothing else can any more.
Who is it for?
managers, teachers, helping professionals, doctors, head teachers
What does this assessment reveal?
- Finding out which generation the respondent belongs to.
- If several people from one work organisation complete it, the results can also be interpreted together.
- Our own generational characteristics primarily shed light on how we ourselves function, and understanding this is the first step towards change, if change is needed.
- The test helps with this.
