The seventy per cent
70 per cent of a team’s engagement comes down to a single person.
You might think it depends on the salary, the beanbag or the fruit basket in the kitchen. It does not.
That one person is the direct manager.
Gallup measured this using data from 2.7 million employees. Everything else shares the remaining 30 per cent: strategy, the market, the office, the coffee.
So when a company replaces the coffee machine, statistically it is dealing with a fraction of the problem. But it shows immediately.
