Random words

The random words method supports creative thinking, stepping out of patterns and departing from the familiar by bringing a random influence to bear on the thinking process.

The concept in brief

  1. Using the random words method, we can generate ideas at a meeting, in a planning process, when defining a product, or even when defining operational processes.

  2. When the method is used in the idea-generation process, randomly chosen words help to spark creativity and give a new direction to the emergence of ideas.

  3. In the classic use of the method we most often work with nouns, but words of other parts of speech are also suitable and usable.

  4. Example: choose two words at random from the dictionary and say how the thing, quality or function denoted by the first word could be improved by the thing denoted by the second random word.
