The 5D Matrix
The 5D Matrix is used to define process systems and depict them as a whole, and to increase transparency across an organisation as a whole.
The concept in brief
Core processes: they start from the external client and arrive at them, and the client pays for them directly or indirectly (or does not pay, if we waive payment).
Processes directly supporting value creation: their client is an external client; they directly support reaching an agreement with that client and carrying out a value-creating process.
Processes indirectly supporting value creation: their client is an internal client; they indirectly support the launch and implementation of a value-creating process.
Leadership processes: processes initiated by the leader, i.e. providing capacity, defining quality levels and providing resources.
Owner processes: processes initiated by the owner, i.e. providing capital, defining identity and selecting the original leader.
