The four steps of proactivity

The concept of the four steps of proactivity identifies the stages of development through which an organisation moves from an active role to the state of a proactive organisation.

The concept in brief

  1. A condition of achieving and sustaining a proactive organisation is that its employees are proactive.

  2. As we understand it, proactivity means that the supplier is ahead of their client in thinking and always aims to exceed the performance level.

  3. The proactive organisation is built on making offers; it presupposes that the process of making an offer is initiated by the supplier.

  4. It is important to identify which step a given organisation is on in terms of its level of proactivity, because this diagnosis determines the direction of further action.

  5. The steps for using the model: determining the organisation’s level of proactivity, setting out in detail the goals linked to that level, defining the expected results, and matching methods to the courses of action.
